Pumpkin Pawfection: Homemade Halloween Dog Treats Recipe

News

Get into the Howl-oween spirit with these simple and nutritious pumpkin dog treats. But beware – these are so good, your pup might turn into an uncontrollable werewolf!

Ingredients

1 ½ cups whole wheat flour
1 egg
½ cup pumpkin puree (not pie filling)
1 tbsp peanut butter (without xylitol)

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Combine the flour, egg, pumpkin, and peanut butter in a mixing bowl to form a thick dough.
  • If the mixture is sticky, slowly add additional flour.
  • Press small pieces of the dough into a silicon Halloween mold. Alternatively, roll out the dough until it is ½ in (1.3 cm) thick, and use Halloween-themed cookie cutters to create individual treats.
  • Bake for 30-40 min until golden brown.
  • Allow to cool for several minutes, and then carefully remove the treats from the silicon mold (if you choose this option).
  • Store the treats in an airtight container for about 5 days or extend the shelf life by keeping them in the fridge or freezer.

Notes
If your pup has gluten allergies, you can substitute certified gluten-free oat flour, which is processed in dedicated facilities that prevent cross-contamination.
At 30 min, the treats will likely still be a little chewy. If you want a crunchy treat, leave them in the oven a bit longer.
